This award recognises someone who has gone the extra mile to take care of their garden.
Jennifer has worked hard to transform her garden over the last few years. She initially took up gardening to help her whilst she cared for her parents. Although her garden is small it opens up into a colourful oasis, with brightly coloured flowers and well established plants and shrubs. She has brightened up the front entrance and stairway to the property with flowers that reflect the seasons. Her garden always receives positive comments from her neighbours about the care and attention she gives it to make it look so beautiful.
Anne's garden is a wonderful tranquil place, with a good variety of plants to capture all the seasons. She loves being in the garden and sits outside for most of her meals. It is her haven of tranquillity and the front garden is enjoyed by everyone who passes her property. The plants give the garden an excellent environment for wildlife including butterflies, bees and birds. Anne's garden also reminds her of the work her partner (who passed away last year) and she did together and is a lasting memorial to him.
Alf has a spectacular garden that brightens up Portobello. His garden is beautifully planted with a variety of plants showing their beautiful colours. It always makes people stop and comment on the work he puts in and how amazing it looks. Alf also grows a range of vegetables which he offers to his friends and neighbours. He is always on hand to give people tips and advice and ensures that as well as creating an attractive garden that it is wildlife friendly and does all he can to attract birds, butterflies and bees.
