Young Achiever

Individual Award

This award is for a young person who has achieved success in their chosen activity through dedication and hard work, or who has made a difference to their community or other individuals.

Billy Hall

Billy Hall

Billy has become a vital team member at St George’s Community Centre in the year that he has been volunteering. He is a student at Camphill College and initially started attending the centre with his work coach but now is an essential volunteer and helps to run the lunch club. For many of the attendees, the lunch club is the only time they are able to get out of the house and Billy’s rapport and fantastic sense of humour brightens up their day even more. Billy is a real positive role model and shows that learning difficulties aren’t a hindering factor in how much light someone can bring to others.

Faith Batchelor

Faith Batchelor

Faith originally planned on climbing Pen-y-ghent to raise £150 for a wheelchair to help transport children to and from school. The 17-year-old smashed her target and raised over £1,300, allowing her school to purchase an adapted mini-bus with wheelchair access. Faith has multiple disabilities herself but didn’t let that stop her from tackling one of the highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales and stepping well outside of her comfort zone.

Lilly Goodall

Lilly Goodall

At just nine years old, Lilly has already become a huge star in her community and has a knack for helping others. Through the Covid pandemic, Lilly made residents of Hemsworth Nursing homes Mother’s Day cards and took them small bunches of flowers after realising they would not be able to see their families. She has undertaken multiple sponsored walks, raising money to gift Barnsley Hospital’s children’s wards with selection boxes and other chocolates at Christmas, as well as dressing up as Alice in Wonderland to deliver Easter Eggs.
